BOOKS

Goddess Path: Myths, Invocations & Rituals by Patricia Monaghan

I love this one as it offers you a chapter to get to know each of the 20 Goddesses featured. It gives you an easy to ready but well researched version of Her myth and then offers insight into how She can help you. It provides a personal ritual outline to work with Them one at a time and get to know Them. This book can be used as a template to work with many more Goddesses after you get through those 20 included. All of Patricia Monaghan’s books are very good. This is a great starting point to meet She of Many Names.

To Know: A Guide to Women’s Magic and Sprituality by Jade River

Since the thealogy of women’s Wicca holds that there is a spark of divinity in everything, your connection to the Goddess or life force energy lies within you, because you are a part of it. In most cosmologies there is a concept of where in the universe a deity resides and relationship of that deity to an individual in the universe…The concept of the Goddess within is a concept of an incarnate deity or a deity that exists inside the individual. – Jade River, Founder of the Re-formed Congregation of the Goddess, International.

The Wheel of the Year as an Earth-Based Spiritual Psychology for Women by Kim Duckett, Ph.D.

We are a fierce and loving People.
We honor Femaleness.
Our religion is the Wheel.
Our language is Ritual.
Our Tribe:  Goddess, Dianic, Amazon.

In her groundbreaking new book, Kim Duckett writes on The Wheel of the Year as a Spiritual Psychology for Women:

Although my interests and my work encompasses all aspects of women’s spirituality generally, and Dianic Goddess traditions in particular, much of my work has focused on European earth-based shamanic and magical traditions. The centrality of the Wheel of the Year, or the Wheel of Life, in these traditions has become a beloved tool in my personal spiritual practice.”

I have also discovered, along with my sisters who have followed the Wheel together as a community for many years now, that the Wheel is not simply a teaching or illustrative tool about the seasons, or planting, or a backdrop for the agricultural myths of antiquity.  I have come to see it as an ancient “psychology” and a spiritual Path and teach it as such.”

Burning Times – Second of the Trilogy by Donna Read

This documentary takes an in-depth look at the witch hunts that swept Europe just a few hundred years ago. False accusations and trials led to massive torture and burnings at the stake and ultimately to the destruction of an organic way of life. The film questions whether the widespread violence against women and the neglect of our environment today can be traced back to those times. Part two of a series of three films on women and spirituality, which includes Goddess Remembered and Full Circle. Directed by Donna Read – 1990

Full Circle – Third of the Trilogy by Donna Read

In this stirring documentary, authors, teachers, social activists and feminists explore manifestations of contemporary women’s spirituality in the Western world. Drawing on the customs, rites and knowledge of the past, Full Circle envisions a sustainable future where domination is replaced with respect. At the centre of these discussions is a reverence for the Earth, a sacred circle which we must protect. Directed by Donna Read – 1991
